The Central Directorate of the Party of the Guardians of the Cedars-National
Lebanese Movement, held its weekly meeting and after discussing the current
Lebanese social, economic and political problems issued the following communiqué:
The shuttle diplomacy towards Lebanon and the region has recently taken a
serious upturn with the object of promoting the peace process. In this respect,
we believe that the following observations are pertinent:
- Syria is the only obstacle facing the peace process by supporting, in the
so-called "Arab" countries, organizations that oppose peace with
Israel;
- Syria prevents Lebanon from following a separate track in the peace
process, because it holds complete sway over his political decision by
threatening at any moment to stir again terrorist operations, leading to
large scale military operations and even massacres;
- The only possible solution is to put an end to Syrian tutelage of the
Lebanese political decision, the deployment of the Lebanese army in the
South and throughout Lebanese territory and the unconditional application of
UNSC. 520;
- The Central Directorate of the Party, after appraising the intervention of
our comrade Carol Etienne Sakr on the MTV, approves it unreservedly and
congratulates her for her insight.
And finally, we reiterate our motto:
War does not end when the people are tired, but when they are victorious!
